Effects of adaptive leadership and dynamic capabilities on women-owned SME resilience mediated by transformational leadership

Abstract

Research on the resilience of women-owned SMEs has been scant. The study examines the mediating role of transformational leadership in the relationship between adaptive leadership and dynamic capabilities, and their impact on the resilience of women-owned SMEs in Zimbabwe. The research was guided by the adaptive leadership theory, dynamic capabilities theory, transformational leadership theory, and organizational resilience theory. The survey involved women-owned SMEs in the services sector in Harare. The findings demonstrate that transformational leadership mediates the effects of adaptive leadership and dynamic capabilities on the resilience of women-owned SMEs in Zimbabwe. The research recommends integrating transformational leadership, adaptive leadership, and dynamic capabilities to achieve resilience.
