Transformation of human identity and the nursing profession in the post-artificial intelligence era: Implications for healthcare systems and clinical practice

Abstract

With the unprecedented advancement of digital technologies and the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) in various aspects of individual and societal life, humanity has entered a new era [1]. The increasing prevalence of AI in fields such as medicine, education, art, economics, and politics has not only transformed the operational structures of these systems [2] but also enhanced access to information, enabling us to explore surrounding issues with greater accuracy and depth. Realities can contribute to a deeper understanding of life, and existing realities can be enhanced by analyzing complex data and simulating different scenarios. These transformations lead to the emergence of a new worldview in which humans can interact with and learn from advanced technologies [3, 4]. In this transformative context, the concept of "post-AI" is perceived as a stage beyond mere reliance on technology, representing an entry into a new biosphere where humans are not with machines but are striving to rediscover and revive the authentic aspects of their humanity. During this period, the central question is whether humanity will relinquish its position to intelligent machines or retain the ability to guide this path through awareness, emotion, meaning-seeking, and responsibility [5].
