Traditional Leaders and Service Delivery

Abstract

Prior to 1994, South African government has promised to fulfil the needs of people in providing public services. Disastrously, the South African government has lacked to fulfil the need of providing public services to people and community due to not abiding by the implementation of the laws and policies that are stipulated in the constitution of Republic of South Africa. Local government is expounded as the closest sphere to people that knows what challenges people are experiencing on daily basis. They are playing a vital role in elevating public services as expected and they ensure that they satisfy people first. This has taken to another part where local government is suggested to collaborate with traditional authorities in terms of providing public services. This chapter is critically examining the coordination between traditional leaders and local government, with a focus on enhancing reliable and viable service delivery.
