The Roles of Digital Health Technologies-Mobile Health Applications and Wearable Health Devices in Nigerian Health Performance

Abstract

This study examined the effects of digital health technologies on health status in Nigeria. A total of 422 respondents were selected across Nigeria using the Taro Yamane sample size of the random sampling technique. The data analysis was based on 380 responses obtained. Logistic regression model was specified and analyzed using the Maximum Likelihood estimation method (MLM).The results show that digital health technology in terms of mobile health apps which are body fitting and health tracker applications increases the probability of reporting good health status by 47.65 and 49.91percents respectively. Furthermore, wearable health devices which are smart watches and glucometer increase the probability of reporting good health status by 34.57 and 42.73 percents respectively. This study concluded that digital health technologies are beneficial to health status in Nigeria. Therefore, individuals should embrace and routinely use digital health technologies in order to obtain correct insights and make well-informed health decisions.
