The Role of Green Crowdfunding in Supporting Social Entrepreneurship

Abstract

Findings reveal that green crowdfunding holds transformative potential but faces significant hurdles. Only 30% of campaigns meet their financial targets, hampered by distrust in online payments, inadequate digital skills, and complex regulations. Successful campaigns, often supported by the Moroccan diaspora through platforms like Wuluj and Akkan, channel 60% of funds into climate-resilient projects, enhancing both environmental and social outcomes. However, cooperatives call for faster campaign processes and better support to navigate digital and regulatory landscapes. This research underscores the need for targeted interventions) digital training, trust-building campaigns, and streamlined processes (to unlock crowdfunding's capacity to empower rural farmers. By offering a replicable evaluation framework and actionable insights, this study contributes to the global conversation on innovative financing for social entrepreneurship, illuminating pathways to a more sustainable and inclusive agricultural future in Morocco and beyond.
