The Logistical and Financial Determinants of the Stock Market Resilience of Moroccan Listed Companies in the Face of Economic and Geopolitical Shocks: Towards an Integrated Strategy for Managing Global Performance

Abstract

This article falls within the logic of a global unstable context, characterized by economic shocks (inflation, supply disruptions) and geopolitical shocks (regional conflicts and energy crises) that are challenging the resilience of the Moroccan companies listed on the Official Casablanca Stock Exchange. The aim of this research is to investigate how a set of logistics (including the implementation of artificial intelligence and supply chain modernization) and financial (liquidity, ESG scores, solvency ratios) drivers interact to enhance the resilience of this most disruptive type of hazard. It relies on a mixed methodology that consists of a quantitative analysis of the financial reports of 40 listed firms from 2019 to 2024 complemented by qualitative interviews with senior managers of media companies (Maroc Telecom) and industrial firms (Managem). The findings demonstrate a strong relationship between AI-enable logistics agility (OCP, Auto Nejma, etc.) and stock price resilience in time of crisis. From a financial standpoint, strong cash reserves and ESG (such as that of DHL Casablanca) means more attractiveness for investors and quicker recovery following a shock. The research also demonstrates that financial incentives, such as green tax credits, and team upskilling in sustainable technologies contribute significantly to the company's sustainable performance. Lastly, the article suggests an integrated global performance strategy that fuses digital innovation, sustainable finance and agile governance, while underscoring methodological limitations and encouraging further research to enrich studies using longitudinal and comparisons.
