The impact of covid-19 on the logistics and transportation sectors in Morocco

Abstract

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been one of the many major epidemics in the world, affecting the health of millions of people and resulting in deaths. It prompted the authorities in all countries to take exceptional measures to protect the population from this virus, such as suspending commercial activities deemed non-vital and banning collective workplaces. As for the economic situation in Morocco, it would be affected by the global economic recession, especially in China and European countries. This means that Morocco faces major challenges in terms of economic and financial recovery and crisis management. In fact, the logistics and transportation sectors are amongst the most important pillars for the continuity of the supply of goods and the satisfaction of customers' needs. However, most supply chain activities have been significantly disrupted by the pandemic. This study aims to explore the impact of Covid-19 on the logistics and transportation sectors in Morocco, based on a qualitative approach involving extensive data collection covering relevant aspects of the impacts related to Covid-19 on the whole supply chain activities.
