Clean energy sources such as wind and solar energy sources are currently upstaging conventional fossil fuel energy sources. Despite this feat, clean energy sources are grossly inadequate to meeting the energy demands especially in the area of mass transportation such as buses, lorries, ships, and trains. This therefore makes it imperative for a paradigm shift to a sustainable and renewable energy source with the capacity to deliver a higher and more efficient energy. Green hydrogen has been forecasted as a potential global energy solution amid rising global energy demand. Hydrogen and its derivatives have also been projected as key players in global economic transformation. The huge cost of infrastructures such as electrolyzers is a major hurdle to be surmounted to realize the enormous potential presented by green hydrogen. Strategic planning and policy formulation are required to a ccelerate the twin opportunities of a carbon-free environment and sustainable energy.
