The Endomycorrhizal Community in Association With Argan Trees and Companion Species in the Ouezzane Region, Morocco

Abstract

In Morocco, several studies have been carried out on the mycorrhizal status of the south-western arganier, few exhaustive studies have been carried out on the north-eastern arganier, and no studies have been carried out on the arganiers of Dar Chef, Ouezzane region. The purpose of this study is to determine the mycorrhizal status of the arganier and the accompanying plant species: Cupressus sp. and Chamaerops humilis. The presence of this arganeraie was noted for the first time in this region. The study revealed the presence of a wide diversity of AMF in the rhizosphere of these three species. In addition, the frequency of mycorrhization was relatively high up to 100% with the formation of vesicles and arbuscules, endophytes, and spores within the roots of the plants studied. Examination of the spores revealed 18 species isolated from the rhizosphere of argan tree, 15 species for Cupressus sp and 13 species isolated from the rhizosphere of Chamaerops humilis.
