The Application of Nanochitosan Biopesticides as a Replacement to Synthetic Pesticides

Abstract

Concerns regarding the detrimental effects of synthetic pesticides on the environment and human health have inspired research into more ecologically friendly alternatives worldwide. Nanochitosan, a modified type of chitosan-derived chitosan, is an interesting candidate for biopesticide applications. Owing to its advantageous properties, such as non-toxicity, biodegradability, low allergenicity, and biocompatibility, nanochitosan can be applied in a variety of fields, including agriculture. The potential of nanochitosan as a biopesticide and its capacity to replace synthetic pesticides in contemporary agriculture are both topics covered in this chapter. This chapter explores the benefits, uses, and potential uses of nanochitosan in pest management and emphasizes how it supports ecologically friendly and sustainable farming methods.
