The challenge of effectively removing toxic industrial waste pollutants has led to the popularity of soil remediation through sorbent amendment. To perform quantitative retrieval from soil, magnetically retrievable sorbents have been employed in soil remediation to provide effective sorption sites for pollutants. This eliminates the gradual leaching of contaminants and enhances remediation efficiency by removing hazardous substances. Magnetic sorbents, particularly magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), significantly impact the speed, enrichment factor, anti-interference capability, selectivity, and reproducibility of magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE)-based methodologies. This chapter explores the synthesis and potential applications of MNP sorbents in the removal of pollutants from soil.
