Technical Analysis to support the development of South Africa’s second Nationally Determined Contribution: Full list of technical reports.

Abstract

South Africa submitted its second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the UNFCCC Secretariat in October 2025. This collection brings together the technical analyses undertaken during 2024–25 to support the development of the NDC’s mitigation and adaptation components, covering emissions pathways, implementation and investment requirements, electricity-sector modelling, air quality co-benefits, climate risks and adaptation priorities. The work was undertaken by a multidisciplinary research team at the University of Cape Town, with contributions from the CSIR and Stellenbosch University.
