Tackling financial insecurity for autoimmune rheumatic diseases in developing countries in sub-Saharan Africa is of utmost importance

Abstract

Despite still being considered rare in sub-Saharan Africa, autoimmune rheumatic diseases remain major contributors to morbidity and mortality, with a considerable economic burden, particularly for low-income populations. It is therefore crucial to effectively address the financial precariousness of people suffering from autoimmune rheumatic diseases in sub-Saharan Africa, to improve their state of care.
