Synthesis, physical, chemical and biological properties of a M(CO)3 (M = Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re) matched quintet

Abstract

A matched quintet bis-quinoline tricarbonyl complex was synthesized across Group 6/7 transition metals (M = Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re). The complexes display trends in structure and bonding, observed by X-ray crystallography, NMR, Infrared, UV-Vis and fluorescence. Biological testing reveals high activity for Group 7 complexes against Gram-positive bacteria. Post-synthetic functionalisation with Click chemistry was explored.
