Study of Power Losses and Voltage Stability of the Moroccan Electricity Network with a Clean Solar Source Connect

Abstract

This paper examines the performance of a Moroccan electric transportation system with the incorporation of renewable solar energy, which poses a considerable challenge owing to its intermittent characteristics. The research intends to assess the system's performance across diverse situations and configurations by conducting power flow analysis using the Newton-Raphson technique in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software. A series of simulations were performed on a 4-bus Moroccan electrical network, analyzing the effects of solar energy fluctuations at various utilization levels and evaluating the influence of differing renewable energy penetration on power flow performance. The study analyzes the impact of variations in solar power generation on system performance, energy availability, and grid stability, assessing their implications for self-sufficiency in renewable energy systems. Furthermore, it determines the point at which the incorporation of an alternative energy source is essential to maintain a reliable power supply and diminish dependence on the conventional power grid. A thorough study was conducted via many simulations to assess voltage and active power generated profiles at different bus locations and determine network losses.
