This is a presentation by members of the DOT4D Student Fellowship (Lauren Grootboom, Bianca Masuku, and Lucky Geluk) at the DOT4D Student Symposium on Open Education for Social Justice held at UCT on the 12<sup>th</sup> of May 2025. The presentation shared insights on students’ perspectives and reflections on the role of open education in addressing social injustices in South African higher education; its limitations, its future and how they think student participation will accelerate the progress of this movement.
