Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 are 17 global goals designed to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria like in many other countries face significant cybersecurity challenges. A strong cybersecurity model and policy are essential to protect their digital assets, data, Finance and operations. Lack of funding for modern technologies and the adoption of a robust cybersecurity model have hindered SMEs' ability to drive economic progress due to cyber threats. This study analyses COBIT and NCPS cybersecurity models for SMEs to determine their strengths and flaws and if need be propose a dynamic and cost-effective cybersecurity model for Nigerian SMEs. The study concludes by suggesting that (SMEs) in Nigeria and elsewhere should take measures to protect themselves against cyberattacks by adopting a cybersecurity model that is easy to use, affordable, and dynamic which is appropriate for SMEs.
