The deployment of fifth-generation (5G) millimeter-wave (mmWave) networks represents a significant advancement in wireless communication, enabling peerless data capacity, near-instant responsiveness, and seamless connectivity for multiple devices. However, widespread implementation faces challenges such as high infrastructure costs, signal propagation limitations, interference management, and energy efficiency concerns. This study examines the technological advancements, deployment strategies, and socioeconomic impact of mmWave networks in 5G. Using a narrative review approach, it synthesizes insights from peer-reviewed research, industry reports, and regulatory frameworks. The findings highlight that while technologies such as beamforming, adaptive modulation, and intelligent reflecting surfaces enhance network performance, challenges such as limited coverage, high energy consumption, and security risks persist. Potential solutions include small-cell architectures, AI-driven interference mitigation, and hybrid integration with Sub-6 GHz bands. Furthermore, mmWave networks drive economic growth, support Industry 4.0 applications, and promote digital inclusion. However, ensuring equitable access requires strong regulatory policies and infrastructure investments. This study concludes with a strategic roadmap for effective deployment, emphasizing policy reforms, spectrum management, and sustainable energy solutions. These insights serve as valuable resources for researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders in shaping the future of mmWave communication for global adoption.
