Species-specific suppression of development and dispersal in fall armyworm by two Chelonus parasitoids

Abstract

• Parasitism by both Chelonus species significantly extended the developmental duration of FAW larvae. • Ch . bifoveolatus suppresses host larval growth more severely during later developmental stages than Ch . formosanus. • Both parasitoids equally decrease food consumption and cannibalistic behavior in FAW larvae. • Ch . formosanus more effectively limits dispersal-related feeding damage in the field compared to Ch . bifoveolatus .
