Abstract Background The prevalence of primary bone lymphoma is estimated at 3-7% of primary bone tumours and less than 2% of all lymphomas in adults [1]. Primary lymphoma of the spine is a rare entity in neurosurgery, characterised by malignant proliferation of lymphocytes in the spine. Case Description We present the case of a 61-year-old man with this condition. Initial symptoms were low back pain progressing to urinary retention. Investigations revealed vertebral and extradural lesions. The patient underwent surgery and was referred to haematology for follow-up of the lymphoma. Conclusion This case highlights the importance of an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to the management of spinal B lymphoma.
