Since the introduction of Service-Orientated Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD) as a new diagnostic standard defined by ASAM that is a REST API grounded in state-of-the-art IT technologies (HTTP, REST, JSON, OAuth), SOVD can now be used to be employed in vehicle diagnostics within new architectures for HPCs supporting multiple operating systems. However, it is believed that several devices will still use Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS). So, SOVD API must provide a way to map SOVD HTTP requests to the classic diagnostic protocol. In this paper, we present our proposed idea and design for how the SOVD API that runs on the Adaptive AUTOSAR Platform can access UDS Services in existing UDS-based ECUs from SOVD HTTP requests sent from clients. We also introduce a Diagnostic Tester Tool with a client implementation that does not require any automotive-specific stack and sends SOVD HTTP requests.
