Loss of soil carbon due to human activities, such as uncontrolled farming and industrial revolution can lead to soil destruction and by the end shortage of food, which affect severely the food safety around the world. Capture of carbon in soil may ameliorate soil characteristics, increase soil organic matter, which affect positively soil fertility, thus increase crop production, and ensure food security. Nowadays, capture and storage of carbon in soil is considered an urgent necessity. Several management practices can be used to return C to the soil, increases its stabilization and minimize C losses, which may lead to an improvement of soil carbon sequestration. The present work provides a summary of the different management practices used to address soil carbon loss and its storage and sequestration.
