Integrating blockchain technology with the Internet of Things (IoT) systems could achieve various benefits like cost reduction and interoperability, but this integration also poses challenges, especially with regard to security and privacy as shown in recent literature. From an industrial perspective, this integration faces unique privacy implications depending on the application domain and the data sensitivity that could add more complexity and challenges. In this context, this paper adopts an analytical approach that builds on recent research work to provide an updated review of the common privacy and security challenges and issues resulting from the integration of blockchain with the Internet of Things (BIoT). In addition, it will highlight the varying complexity across three application domains: Internet of Vehicles, Smart Healthcare and Prison Systems.
