Review data on production, physicochemical properties, performance and emission characteristics of jatropha biodiesel and its diesel blends

2026Open accessBahir Dar University

Abstract

A Comprehensive Review on Production, Physicochemical Properties, Performance, and Emission Characteristics of Jatropha Biodiesel and Its Diesel Blends examines the potential of jatropha-based biodiesel as a sustainable alternative fuel for diesel engines. The review covers biodiesel production processes, feedstock characteristics, fuel properties, engine performance, and exhaust emissions. It analyzes the effects of various jatropha biodiesel–diesel blend ratios on engine efficiency, fuel consumption, combustion behavior, and pollutant emissions. The study highlights the environmental benefits, technical challenges, and future prospects of utilizing jatropha biodiesel to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote cleaner transportation and energy systems.
