RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION CURRICULUM CONTENT AND UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ ENTREPRENEURIAL SELF-EFFICACY DEVELOPMENT FOR SELF-RELIANT

Abstract

The study examined the Relationship Between Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum Content and Students’ Entrepreneurial Self-efficacy. Development for Self-reliant in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Nigeria. Three objectives and three null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted correlational survey research design. The population for the study was 190 undergraduate final year Vocational education students, 2024/2025 session. Total population sample was used in the study, with only 179 valid responses. Structured questionnaire was used. To find out the reliability of the instrument, a pilot test was conducted, from which 0.83 correlation coefficient was obtained using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The data was analyzed using PPMC to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that there is no significant relationship between entrepreneurship education content knowledge and students’ entrepreneurial self-efficacy development. Also, the relationship between practical experience, networking opportunity and students’ entrepreneurship self-efficacy development was significant. It was recommended that curriculum planners should re-examine the entrepreneurship education curriculum content beyond cognitive input only, in order to ensure it is providing students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become self-reliant, and re-evaluate the curriculum to strengthen mastery experiences, social persuasions and vicarious thrill to better enhance students’ self-reliant goals after graduation.
