PyTECGg is a high-performance Python package with a Rust core designed for the estimation and calibration of Total Electron Content (TEC) from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data. By using a hybrid Python-Rust architecture, the software is engineered to handle large-scale datasets with computational and memory efficiency. Processing a 24 h, 30-second RINEX (Receiver INdependent EXchange) file becomes possible in under 1 s, representing a significant increase in speed (up to 300 times faster) compared to pure-Python alternatives. PyTECGg provides comprehensive support for multiple GNSS constellations and RINEX versions, including native Hatanaka decompression. It also democratises ionospheric modelling by offering an accessible, open-source tool for researchers in space weather and upper-atmosphere physics, streamlining the workflow from raw observations to robust and reliable, calibrated ionospheric products.
