A huge increase in the human population has been a great threat to energy usage, as energy is required for daily activities. The globally and mostly used form of energy is electricity because it boosts nation's economy and enhance human standard of living. There are still about 800 million people in the world without access to electricity, with Africa leading the table. This study considers some various ways by which electricity can be obtained from renewable energy, such as hydro, solar, wind and biomass. It was concluded that with the necessary technologies and policies being put in place for electricity generation from renewable source, there will be reduction in the number of people without access to electricity in Nigeria, and we will enjoy an eco-friendly environment.
