Productivity Improvement Based on Measuring the Overall Equipment Effectiveness in Metal Formation Production Stages

Abstract

The overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) tool is a plan for increasing the efficiency of manufacturing processes and equipment, including loading time, preparing tasks, and machines usage. Many companies seek to improve their products and raise the efficiency of equipment to achieve high quality products OEE is the solution to find out the reason for delaying product, it calculates the inefficiencies and classifies them into three categories for better understanding of the manufacturing method. The case study investigates OEE of the cable rack manufacturing stages at Masar Company for Metal Industries, Alexandria ARE where the calculation was performed on each cable tray production phase to identify bottlenecks and hidden losses. After the implementation of OEE, its noticed that productivity and product quality were increased significantly.
