Power Quality Issues Investigation Based on Laboratory-Scale Microgrid Platform

Abstract

Inverter-based resources (IBRs) play a paramount role in the Microgrid due to their ability to facilitate the integration of renewable energy resources and improve energy efficiency. However, their high penetration in the MGs causes system stability and power quality issues. This paper presents a study of the power quality issues introduced by IBRs on the Pla-NeTE microgrid platform, at the QehnA laboratory in the National Engineering School of Tunis, using EMTP software. This experimental platform presents a radial residential distribution line that comprises two three-phase connection points and three single-phase houses. In this platform, two single-phase houses are equipped with single-phase commercial solar inverters and can operate in both production and consumption mode. This paper investigates the power quality on the studied platform in different operating modes in terms of voltage drop.
