Phyto-mediated fabrication of Mn2O3 nanoparticles using Hyphaene thebaica fruit extract as a promising photocatalyst for MB dye degradation

Abstract

Manganese oxide nanoparticles (Mn2O3 NPs) synthesized through a green approach using Hyphaene thebaica fruit extract demonstrate promising photocatalytic activity. Characterized extensively through various techniques, including SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, and UV–vis spectroscopy, the Mn2O3 NPs exhibit crystalline morphology with a size of 20.3 ± 5 nm. Notably, the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue reveals a high efficiency of around 98 %, underscoring the potential of the green synthesized Mn2O3 NPs for environmental remediation. This study contributes to the field by introducing a cost-effective, eco-friendly synthesis method for Mn2O3 NPs and highlighting their viability as efficient photocatalysts for pollutant degradation.
