Petrochemical Company Utility Steam Upgrade

Abstract

The Petrochemical Company operates four wax processing and blending plants located inside an Oil Refinery in Durban. High-pressure utility steam is necessary to heat wax products above their congealing point for further refining and to heat process piping to transport the wax products to the various processing units. Due to the recent repurposing of the oil refinery into a product blending and storage facility, the oil refinery will not be able to supply high-pressure steam. This project entails installing steam boilers to meet the plant's steam requirements. The steam boilers will be fully integrated into the existing plant and PLC automated infrastructure. Once installed and commissioned the steam boilers will satisfy the steam requirement of all four wax processing units and auxiliaries. This new installation will make the wax facility independent and fully operational.
