Numerical Analysis of the Hygrothermal Performance of Confined Stone Masonry Walls under Moroccan Climatic Conditions

Abstract

This study investigates the thermal and hygrometric performance of stone walls in diverse climatic zones of Morocco. The main goal is to show how stone can be used to build things and how it can naturally keep the temperature and humidity at a comfortable level, which are two important things for cutting down on energy use in buildings. The WUFI program can run tests that show that this kind of wall has a lot of thermal inertia. It keeps heat in when it's cold and lets it out when it's hot. This makes it much less necessary for the people who live there to heat and cool their homes. These walls also help keep the hygrometric balance stable, which makes the air inside healthier and more comfortable, especially in places where the humidity changes a lot. Using stone to build things is a good and long-lasting way to make Moroccan buildings more energy-efficient and keep problems with humidity and condensation to a minimum.
