Nephroblastoma in WAGR syndrome: Clinical perspectives, management and follow up in a low, middle income country. A case report from the University Teaching Hospital, Lusaka, Zambia

Abstract

Background: WAGR syndrome (W: Wilms tumour, A: Aniridia, G: Genito urinary abnormalities, R: Growth retardation) is a germ line deletion/mutation of 11p chromosome affecting 1/1.000.000. It predisposes to nephroblastoma. Most of WT favorable histology but tends to develop chronic renal failure by year 15 at 90%.
