Movement Recognition Using Small Magnetically Coupled Coils

Abstract

In this paper the use of a wireless link based on magnetic coupling for joint flexion monitoring is experimentally investigated. A system consisting of four small spiral coils is analyzed. The position of the elbow is recognized from measurements of the transmission coefficient of the wireless link. Consequently, the possibility of monitoring elbow flexion is demonstrated.
