Model-Driven Engineering to develop chatbots for smart tourism

Abstract

Several approaches have been suggested to improve the speed of software development. Model Driven Engineering (MDE) is one approach characterized by its focus on abstracting and automating the software development process, using models and transformations as key components. Recently, chatbots have become increasingly used to automate tasks and improve the customer experience by providing services through interaction with users in natural language. This type of application can be developed using many platforms and frameworks available on the market, such as Dialogflow and Amazon Lex. Despite the existence of these tools, the development of chatbots presents some drawbacks, such as the lock-in of Natural Language Processing (NLP) services and the high costs required. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a model-driven approach for developing chatbots in the context of smart tourism.
