The effects of antimony as a modifier were investigated on some mechanical properties of cast recycled Al-alloy heat-treated at 540 °C. The distribution, formation, and features of Si platelets on the heat-treated samples were also investigated. In this study, a mixture technique based on design of experiment was adopted to optimize the processing parameters. 5 kg of Al-alloy ingot was used to carry out the experiment. In addition, 0.00, 3.75, 7.50, 11.25 15.00 weight fraction (%) of antimony and was considered. In all, 18 samples were prepared. The micrograph, hardness and tensile strength of the as-cast samples were determined. This study shows that the use of antimony as a modifier and silicon addition in recycled Al-ally has led to improvement in tensile strength and hardness of recycled Al-alloy with nominal composition Al-10.55Si-0.951Mg (wt %).
