Abstract In a bid to address the energy-intensive nature of primaryaluminum production, this study explores the solid-state recyclingof aluminum alloy 6082 chips through direct hot extrusion. Thechips were compacted at room temperature and extruded attemperatures of 350, 425, and 500°C, with reduction ratios of 6, 8.5,and 11. The influence of these extrusion parameters on themechanical behavior of the recycled material was thoroughlyinvestigated to optimize the recycling process. A comprehensiveanalysis of tensile properties, density variations, andmicrostructural changes was conducted. Experimental resultsrevealed a significant impact of varying extrusion parameters onmaterial properties. ANOVA and linear multiple regression analyseswere employed to establish relationships between extrusionconditions and mechanical properties. The findings underscore thepotential for enhanced recycling practices and sustainablemanufacturing.
