This research addresses the increasing need for affordable, reliable, and energy-efficient home and office security solutions through the design and implementation of an automated Intruder Detection System. Conventional security systems are often expensive and complex; this study proposes a cost-effective alternative utilizing Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors and the Arduino microcontroller platform. The system operates on the principle of infrared radiation detection. The PIR sensor monitors changes in the thermal profile of the environment; when a human body moves within its range, the resulting infrared fluctuation triggers a signal. This signal is processed by the Arduino Uno, which serves as the central control unit. Upon detection, the microcontroller executes a programmed response, activating an audible piezo buzzer alarm and a visual LED indicator to alert the occupants. The methodology involved hardware integration, circuit calibration to minimize false positives, and C++ based programming via the Arduino IDE. Testing and results demonstrate that the system is highly sensitive to motion and maintains a low power consumption profile, making it suitable for continuous monitoring.
