Integrating Sustainable Behavior Into Construction Risk Management: Modeling Human Related Factors And Attitude

Abstract

This study aims to examine human-related elements and the impact of contractors' risk attitudes on construction risk management, while also addressing the moderating effect of sustainable behavior. This study used descriptive and inferential statistics to examine data collected from 317 contractors in Nigeria's construction business. We gathered the data using a convenience sample technique and analyzed using the “partial least-squares structural equation modelling” (PLS-SEM) technique. However, the findings demonstrated that acknowledged human-related factors have a positive impact on risk management in the construction sector. Additionally, researchers found that these factors positively influenced the risk attitudes of contractors. As a behavior, sustainable practices moderate the association between human-related factors and contractor risk management. However, eliminating risk is impossible and requires meticulous management. The approach's final innovative feature is the incorporation of sustainable behaviors in construction risk management.
