Innovative MIMO Antenna Design with Enhanced Isolation for Wireless Communications in the 3-8 GHz

Abstract

This study introdces the design and simulation of a compact MIMO antenna system intended to operate across the 3–8 GHz frequency band. The antenna is intended for use in emerging wireless communication systems, including 5G sub-6 GHz C-band communication, and industrial IoT applications. The antenna design features two slotted circular patch elements arranged orthogonally, along with a decoupling mechanism that includes a T-shaped parasitic element and a defected grounded structure (DGS). This configuration enhances the isolation between the ports to over 20 dB across the entire frequency band. The design, implemented on an inexpensive FR4 substrate, offers wide bandwidth, high gain, low ECC (<0.02), and excellent diversity performance.
