Influence of structural parameters on resonance frequency of a split-ring resonator

Abstract

In this study, we investigated the impact of varying substrate parameters (thickness and permittivity) and the Split Ring Resonator’s geometric variables on the resonance frequency numerically. We observed that modifying these parameters can adjust the resonance frequency of the metamaterial cell. Additionally, we theoretically established the impact of various Split Ring Resonator cell geometry variables on resonance frequency based on the analytical model of the equivalent circuit of this resonator. The slot width and the gap width between the rings were the tested geometric parameters in this work. Simulations were performed using HFSS simulation software. When the theoretical predictions and the numerical simulation results were compared, a strong agreement between the two sets of data was found.
