Incidence of Life Threatening Complication in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erthromatosus

Abstract

The incidence of life-threatening complications in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) remains significant, and contribute to increased morbidity and mortality in this population. Aim of this study to assess the incidence of life threatening complication in patients with SLE. Design: A descriptive observational prospective cohort study, sixteen adult patients SLE data registry. Participants were evaluated with Systemic lupus Erthromatous disease activity index (SLEDAI) and life threatening complications assessment tool. Results majority of the studied patients were female and their mean age of 25.27±6.96years. According SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI-2000), 5.33±2.93. The data on SLE patients reveals a predominantly female demographic with high ICU dependency. Conclusions: the studies patients were experiencing a range of moderate disease activity and critical multi-system complications—particularly in cardiovascular, renal, and respiratory systems. Recommendations: Encourage regular screening for life-threatening complications in patients with SLE, such as renal failure, cardiovascular disease, and severe infections.
