Implementation of Advanced Nursing Practice to the Midwifery Profession

Abstract

In this chapter, the authors highlight advanced midwifery practices (AMPs) and their vital role in holistic care in complex clinical situations. They trace the evolution of reproductive health from maternal care to comprehensive services, highlighting the need for specialized training and regulation for autonomous practice. Examples from North America, Australia and Ireland illustrate the impact of these factors. The chapter also addresses global challenges, focusing on public health policy and continuing education, and concludes that MPAs are essential to improving reproductive health care worldwide.
