Effective modeling and optimized management systems are essential for greenhouse cultivation to maintain a suitable microclimate for plant growth. However, due to the large number of input variables, it is a complex task. In order to address this challenge, an enhanced intermediate model was developed using the MATLAB/Simulink platform to simulate the energy balance and fuzzy logic controller to regulate relevant actuators installed in the greenhouse. Real-time data monitoring and recording using the Internet of Things have also been incorporated to enhance system control. A prototype of the system was developed and tested in the Tunisian province of Tunis, contributing to agricultural management through digital innovation and the implementation of fuzzy logic controllers on a Raspberry Pi 3 (IoT). This approach has resulted in increased productivity and improved quality of greenhouse horticulture while also monitoring, controlling, and reducing energy costs.
