In this chapter, we report on the potential of quantum cloud computing in managing big data in academic libraries. The idea that brought this initiative is to assess the opportunities and challenges that quantum cloud computing provides to libraries. We employed interpretative content analysis to review literature from databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. About 42 studies related to quantum computing, cloud computing, and big data management in libraries were reviewed to understand the relevance and implications of quantum cloud computing for library operations. The study finds that quantum cloud computing holds significant potential for revolutionising big data management in libraries. The chapter maintains that quantum cloud computing offers faster data processing, more efficient storage solutions, and advanced data analytics that enable libraries to manage vast datasets with increased accuracy and speed. However, several barriers remain, including high costs, technical expertise gaps, data security challenges, and integration with existing library infrastructures. This study appears to the authors to be the first of its kind to explore the potential of quantum cloud computing for managing big data in libraries. More so, this study also contributes a novel perspective on the emerging research on quantum cloud technologies in the global parlance. The study's findings emphasise the critical need for further empirical research and the development of practical frameworks to support the successful implementation of quantum cloud computing in libraries. Additionally, it offers valuable insights into how libraries can address existing challenges and harness the unique capabilities of quantum cloud computing to enhance big data management.
