Green Non-Parametric Assay of Antihypertension Synergistic Combination Therapy: Greenness/Efficiency Assessment via Novel Analytical Method Intensities Score (AMIS)

Abstract

One significant avoidable contributing element for ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis is hypertension. Despite the availability of potent antihypertensives, many patients continue to have inadequate blood pressure management. To meet the treatment objectives, most hypertensive patients will require antihypertensive combinations. The synergic triple fixed dose combination of olmesartan medoxomil (OLM), hydrochlorothiazide (HCT), and amlodipine besylate (AML) is highly recommended as a hypertension treatment. Validated spectrometric techniques for the assay of OLM, HCT and AML mixture without physical separation were developed. Moreover, Theil's incomplete non-parametric linear regression methodology in processing spectrometric measurements was compared with the classical least-squares regression methodology. Furthermore, a novel analytical greenness/efficiency metric; analytical method intensities score (AMIS) was proposed; that simply combines waste, solvent consumption, analysis time, energy consumption, and chemical hazards into one score weighted by the number of the analytes.
