The escalating environmental concerns associated with plastic waste accumulation and the need for sustainable hydrogen production have driven significant research interest in the integration of these two fields. This review article provides a comprehensive insight into the state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies for the generation of green hydrogen from plastic waste by various authors. The circular economy approach, which seeks to convert plastic waste into a valuable resource, is discussed in the context of hydrogen production, highlighting its potential as a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy carrier. Various processes, such as pyrolysis, gasification, and reforming, are explored in depth, with a focus on their applicability, efficiency, and environmental impact. Furthermore, the article examines the challenges and prospects of scaling up plastic waste-to-hydrogen technologies for industrial applications.
