Fuzzy Logic based MPPT Control Strategies of PV Systems

Abstract

The aim of this work is to implement and comparative study between two MPPT control strategies of the PV module to meet the load requirements. It consists of a photovoltaic module (PV) associated with a SEPIC converter driven by the fuzzy MPPT approach, connected with a resistive load. Many control strategies have been used for tracking the MPP of PV systems such as perturb and observe (P&O), and incremental conductance (INC), to achieve the desired output maximum power. The incremental conductance technique is complex but superior stability than the P&O to supply a PV system under specified climatic conditions. The comparison of the results obtained shows that the INC approach is highly efficient and provides a fast tracking speed for the maximum power output point of a photovoltaic panel. The implementation of the system is performed with MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
