Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) gained a substantial attentiveness due to augmenting the performance membranes for decontamination of water. Herein, the Cu-based MOF Benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid (Cu-BDC) organometallic frameworks (MOFs) were prepared by sonication method and fully characterized using different analyses. Cu-BDC MOFs were integrated into the structure of ultrafiltration (UF) membrane with different ratio to increase the membrane efficacy for water purification. The fruitful integration of Cu-BDC MOFs into polyether sulfone (PES) membranes was confirmed by analyzing the prepared modified PES-based membranes. The modified Cu-BDC/PES membranes exhibited higher water flux and dye rejection than that of PES-membrane. The modified membranes show lower water contact angle (WCA) confirming hydrophilic characteristic. Pure water Flux (PWF) for as-prepared membranes is raised from 27 to 149 L/m2.h (LMH) by increasing MOF to 1.5 wt %, indicating 550% enhancement in PWF. Likewise, the modified membranes flux through treatment of dyes wastewater enhanced comparing with the neat membrane due to hydrophilicity enhancement with Cu-BDC. Finally, the modified PES membranes with Cu-BDC are efficient, stable membrane for purification dying wastewater.
