Finite Element Analysis of RC Beam Behaviour in Civil Engineering and Buildings : Effects of Rotation Angle and Span-to-Depth Ratio

Abstract

The rotation of the beams can result from a variety of circumstances, including their placement and the effect of seismic loads. Furthermore, when space restrictions or conceptual design considerations demand it, rotating the beam relative to the horizontal plane is useful. According to Eurocode 2 Standards, this study investigates the combined impact of span to depth ratio with rotation angle at the horizontal plane regarding the maximum bending moment, maximum shear force and maximum deflection of rectangular reinforced concrete beams using Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Software. This software as a structural analysis design software developed by Autodesk, is a facilitative and innovative tool used in fields such as engineering and architecture. The results show that reinforcement concrete beams with high rotation angle relative to the horizontal plane and less span to depth ratio are less exposed to deformation, highly resistant to maximum shear force and maximum bending moment.
